Smart Padala and DSWD team up to empower micro-entrepreneurs
Smart Padala, the remittance network of telecom provider Smart Communications, teamed up with the Department of Social Welfare and Development – National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR) to provide livelihood to micro-entrepreneurs under the Seed Capital Fund Program.
Smart Padala and DSWD-NCR launched the ‘Sulong Negosyo, Ka-partner Mo Kami sa Pag-unlad ng iyong Negosyo’ program where selected micro-entrepreneurs will receive livelihood training and Smart Padala Negosyo kits.
The kits include P10,000 worth of seed money to be credited to their Smart Padala e-wallet, a mobile phone, and Smart Padala merchandising materials to dress up their sari-sari stores.
Initial beneficiaries who received the Smart Padala Negosyo kits were selected by DSWD-NCR under the Seed Capital Fund Program.
“This initiative aims to achieve a more inclusive and sustainable economic growth. We want to provide more livelihood to micro-entrepreneurs to improve their lives and nurture a ‘growth mindset’ among them so that they can expand their businesses and provide more for their families,” said Lawrence Ferrer, country director and vice-president for agent and trade network at PayMaya Philippines.
Vincent Andrew Leyson, the regional director of DSWD-NCR, said the partnership with Smart Padala is a big help to improve the lives of Seed Capital Fund Program’s beneficiaries.
“Smart Padala has a large network nationwide that can serve as our channel to reach the wider population, especially those at the bottom of the pyramid,” said Leyson.
Smart Padala has more than 20,000 agents across the country.
