Raffles and Fairmont add prestige to Makati
The Raffles and Fairmont Makati are the two newcomers to the luxury-hotel market in the financial district of Makati, according to a report by Philippine Daily Inquirer. Both hotels come from renowned and world-leading hotel brands.
The two properties share the same building, a 30-story tower located at the corner of Makati and Arnaiz avenues. The modernist structure was conceived by leading architects of Arquitectonica.
The Raffles is an all-suite, top-of-the-line hotel, with 32 suites and 237 Raffles Residences. The suites are a mix of executive and junior suites and include a presidential suite as well. The Residences range from one- to four-bedroom apartments and offer extended accommodations. The Residences are also available for private ownership.
Tune opens hotel in Mindanao
International hotel group Tune Hotels has opened of its first hotel in Cagayan de Oro City in Mindanao, according to a report by SunStar.
“Tune Hotels is really proud to be in CDO, our fifth footprint in the Philippines. Thanks to the booming Philippine economy and its very healthy tourist arrivals, we are very pleased with our performance here since we opened our very first Philippine hotel at Angeles City, Pampanga more than two years ago. At least five more Tune Hotels are scheduled for opening in the Philippines over the next 18 months, including in Davao City in Mindanao and Quezon City in Manila later this year,” Tune Hotels Group CEO Mark Lankester said.
The 159-room Tune Hotel Cagayan de Oro is Tune Hotels’ fifth property in the Philippines, after Angeles City, Ermita and Makati in Metro Manila, and Cebu City. The hotel is in Lapasan central business district and near the malls, school as well as food and shopping establishments.
Cagayan de Oro is the 10th largest city in the Philippines and is the capital city of the province of Misamis Oriental in Mindanao.
“The Philippines is a priority market for Tune Hotels. With the rise of budget travel packages from airlines and increase in business travels, there’s a high demand for value hotels that provide affordable, safe, clean, convenient and comfortable accommodations and that’s precisely what Tune Hotels is all about,” Mr. Lankester said.
Tune Hotels is part of Tune Group, a lifestyle business conglomerate co-founded by Mr. Tony Fernandes who also owns budget carrier Air Asia.
Ayala Land Hotel in Nuvali completed
AyalaLand Hotels and Resorts’ (AHRC) wholly-owned brand Seda marked a milestone with the topping off ceremony for its fourth property, Seda Nuvali, according to a report by Manila Standard Today.
The new hotel in Laguna’s eco-city is the fourth under the Seda brand, will be an integral part of the Nuvali eco-city development, an emerging business district south of Metro Manila.
Scheduled to open early or mid-next year, Seda Nuvali affords stunning views of the Nuvali lake and structures that blend perfectly with natural landscapes. The hotel with a resort feel offers modern business travellers 150 contemporary style guestrooms, an e-lounge, banquet and meeting venues, a spa, gym and Seda’s signature restaurant and bar—Misto.
The hotel is also just a few steps to Solenad’s dining and retail outlets, and within easy reach of The Monochrome Events Place and sports facilities, including the wakeboarding site, Republic Wakepark Nuvali. Seda Nuvali is the fourth of the Seda hotel collection owned and managed by AyalaLand Hotels and Resorts Corp. Its other branches are Seda Bonifacio Global City, Seda Centrio in Cagayan de Oro City and Seda Abreeza in Davao City.
New resort in Puerto Galera
Property developer Boulevard Holdings Inc. (BHI) will open a new resort in Puerto Galera in Mindoro Oriental in June 2013, according to a report by BusinessMirror.
BHI said it expanded the first phase of its Friday’s Resort in Boquete Beach in Puerto Galera from 32 rooms to 62 rooms that will be completed in June this year. “Some 20 [rooms], landscape, swimming pool, dive shop, multipurpose dock and restaurant will be delivered in mid-March,” the company said.
The company also operates the same brand of resort in Boracay in Aklan, but that resort only features 50 rooms.
Angeles City hotel cited as best hotel
Reviewers of a regional travel website have ranked a hotel in Angeles City in Pampanga as the top hotel in the Philippines, according to a report by Newsbytes.ph.
Reviewers of Agoda.com selected Angeles Beach Club Hotel as the best in its class, beating three Shangri-la branded properties (Makati, Boracay, and Mactan) which also made it to the Top 12.
Angeles Beach Club Hotel was also earlier chosen by Agoda.com as one of the world’s most OTT (over-the-top) hotels in 2012. The website said a property must at least have 100 customer reviews to qualify in the Top 12 screening.
Ascott to manage Somerset in Alabang
CapitaLand’s wholly-owned serviced residence business unit, The Ascott Limited (Ascott), has increased its presence in the country by securing a contract to manage a serviced residence within the booming business centre of Alabang in Muntinlupa City, according to a report by Manila Standard Today.
The 150-unit Somerset Alabang is slated to open in 2017. It will reinforce Ascott’s position as the largest international serviced residence owner-operator in the Philippines with more than 1,400 apartment units across eight properties.
“We see immense potential for Ascott in the Philippines as the country continues to enjoy strong economic growth and to attract foreign direct investment. In 2012, foreign direct investment into the Philippines grew by almost 10 percent over 2011. Having established a strong foothold in Makati CBD, with three operating properties, we are actively expanding in other business districts where foreign direct investment has generated robust demand for serviced residences,” said Ascott’s regional general Manager for the Philippines and Thailand Arthur Gindap.
He said ”with Somerset Alabang Manila, we are well positioned to cater to expatriates and business travellers from the business process outsourcing, call centre, engineering and construction companies in the Alabang district. The new property will also allow us to tap on the growing demand from the manufacturing and electronics industries in the economic zones of Laguna, Cavite and Batangas.”
