Globe Telecom has introduced a trunkline office phone system that designates mobile phones as extension numbers. "This product is unique to Globe in the Philippines, which is also among the first countries to offer the virtual trunkline service, after the United Kingdom and Denmark," Globe Business head Gil Genio said. Globe OneCall is a virtual trunkline system, powered by software as a service solutions, that enables employees of a corporation or a small and medium enterprise to collectively stay connected at anytime, with just one landline number. "Businesses will become even more accessible with OneCall," Genio said. Most grandparents long for better relationships with their apos and vice versa. But in this fast-paced world where everything happens so fast and tasks have to be juggled simultaneously, the weekend lunches with lolos and lolas seem to be happening fewer and far-between, and even the occasional phone call gets buried under a barrage of to-dos. An informal poll, conducted by Bayan Telecommunications (Bayan) with via Plurk and Facebook social networking sites, revealed that given the chance, 87 percent of young people would want to continue communicating with their grandparents. The same informal poll revealed that 81 percent of Filipinos are still close to their grandparents, and that 57 percent still visit from time to time.

Internet connection in the Philippines and other Asia-Pacific countries has lost speed since August 12, 2009, following multiple cable faults discovered in two undersea fiber optic cable networks connecting Asia-Pacific countries. Cuts within the 19,000-kilometer Asia Pacific Cable Network 2, which has a landing station in Batangas, affected speeds of Internet connection in the region. The top telecom companies in the Philippines use the affected cable network. The Southeast Asia-Middle East-Western Europe 3 also sustained multiple faults. “These faults have been detected between Singapore and Malaysia and between China and Taiwan . The exact cause of these faults is still unknown,” Philippine Long Distance Telecom Co. (PLDT) said in an advisory.

On this national artists awards brouhaha. An elite group of intellectuals and academicians do not want Carlos J. Caparas in. Maybe because Caparas is more popular than they are, and have created works that became more popular than theirs. Caparas, the writer, is a true artist for the masses, although his massacre movies are offensive.
These so-called national artists have the galls to call themselves artists, when in fact, they are more of critics than of artists, judging from the way they wanted to retain their self-proclaimed exclusivity now. Wow!
We are offended by their remarks that the inclusion of Caparas, et. al. to the list would cheapen their status as national artists? What a boisterous group of pretenders! Are artists bereft of any sign of humility? They are really good at alienating the masses, aren't they?

The DanceSport Team Cebu City (DTCC) has received the Guinness World Records certificate for being the "largest dance class" globally and surpassing the record earlier set by Hungary.
Edward Hayco, DTCC chairperson, said the promotion and popularization of Dancesport is aimed to attract sports tourism in Cebu and make the province the so-called dancing capital of the Philippines. Part of the group's vision, along with the local government of the province, is to promote Cebu as the premier tourism destination in the country and in Asia.
As a volunteer activity, it has transformed the lives of thousands of street kids from different barangays, out of school youth and village kids here by developing their self-esteem and confidence. They broke the record of Hungary by having 7,770 dancesport class participants held at the Cebu City Sports Center on June 27, 2009.

We cannot afford to waste another six-year presidency; we need a new president who can bring us and our acts together for this nation towards real economic development. But is there someone, from the present bunch of presidentiables, who can govern well and become the good president that we need?
From the opinion of txtmania, we know about two presidential contenders who are into house-building, which should at least give them some perspective on what nation-building should be. (You build the house to provide protection and comfort to the family.) Vice President Noli de Castro, who we heard is doing a good job as the government's housing czar, and Senator Manny Villar, a housing magnate, both own that disctinction.
